Chrysler Revoking Edison Dealership 05-15-2009

Chrysler announced this week they would revoke franchise agreements with 25% of their dealerships, or nearly 800 businesses across the country. On Thursday, dealers received a letter telling them if they were closing or remaining open.

Terry Mowery Chrysler and Plymouth of Edison was on the list of dealerships targeted for closure.

A phone call to Terry Mowery was referred to the owner, who was unavailable.

Rod James Chrysler in Galion had previously closed their doors but were on the closure list anyway.

Marion's Chrysler dealership came through unscathed.

“We figured as a full line center we would be okay but it was good to see the letter,” said Jason Williams, General Sales Manager at Mathews Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep in Marion.

With Terry Mowery’s closing, combined with two dealerships in Mansfield on the cut list, Williams noted there could even be a boom for the Marion stores.

“Those two stores (in Mansfield) got a good bit of business, so those car buyers have to go somewhere. For us, maybe instead of a 30 mile radius we may be looking at up to a 75 mile radius as our market,” explained Williams.

47 dealerships in Ohio were informed of the cuts.
